“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?” The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” —Matthew 25:35-40 (NIV)

Ways to Make an IMPACT
COPPER RIVER BASIN CRISIS CENTER Ducktown, Tennessee
Nestled away in East Tennessee is the small, rural town of Ducktown, which is home to an estimated 389 people. The median income has recently risen to $21,868 from a median income of $18,125 in the year 2000. This equates to half of the reported average income of Tennessee, which is reported at $42,367.
The Copper River Basin Crisis Center, supported by 12 small local Baptist churches, is run by husband and wife duo, Al and Margaret Patterson. The Crises Center was created with the sole purpose to serve those that they saw struggling and hurting within their own community. The Center operates out of 4 mobile homes: this highly effective ministry runs a food bank and clothing center, oversees community home repairs as needed, and provides Christmas to more than 1,000 children each year.
This low-income town is located just three hours and 30 minutes from Nashville. It’s a great opportunity to take the weekend to serve this community in need. Are you in?
LIVING HOPE CENTRE Cape Town, South Africa
Founded to address the AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa, Living Hope Centre ministers holistically to those living with HIV and AIDS by providing medical services, abstinence education, job creation, life skills training, and food to thousands each year.
HIV and AIDS continue to run rampant with more than 25% of the population infected with what the UN calls the “greatest catastrophe in human history.” Determined to help overcome this grave situation and unbelievable odds, this ministry now has five locations in the southern part of the Cape Town. Through Living Hope’s endless hard work and efforts, more than 1,000 people have accepted Christ within the last seven years.
Next year, in 2010, Kairos will take a mission journey team to South Africa where we will partner with Living Hope Centre to serve the people living in Cape Town—a city without hope—and offer hope through Jesus Christ. Learn more about this incredible opportunity!

SET FREE SKID ROW Skid Row | Los Angeles, California
Committed to serving homeless, hurting, addicted, and forgotten individuals living on Skid Row, this ministry helps people regain their dignity and restores hope to the hopeless through Jesus Christ.
Having once lived a life of hopelessness and addiction on the streets of Skid Row, Pastor Ron, founder of Set Free Skid Row Ministries, knows first-hand the desperation and despair facing the individuals living in such discouraging circumstances. Pastor Ron serves as an example and testimony that God can deliver people from the gravest of situations and offer hope to be “set free” from addiction.
By providing meals, food, clothing, daily Bible study, weekly church services, and movie days, Set Free is committed connecting people with Jesus and helping them find restored faith, healing, and wholeness.
In July 2009, Kairos will team up with Set Free Skid Row Ministry to serve the people living on these streets. Be a part of this life-changing, unforgettable experience!
NASHVILLE RESCUE MISSION Nashville, Tennessee
Following God’s command to love our neighbors, the Nashville Rescue Mission seeks to help the hurting of Middle Tennessee by offering food, clothing, and shelter to those in homeless and recovery programs. The goal of this ministry is to help people know the saving grace of Jesus, and, through Him, gain wisdom for living, find fulfillment in life, and become a positive part of their community.
